Linking an NFC tag to a device

Do I need to store or write anything on the NFC tag?

No. It’s not necessary at all. We also don’t store any data on the NFC tag during the process. We simply read the tag’s unique code (serial number).

Do I need to know the NFC tag’s code?

No. It’s not necessary.

How can I pair an NFC tag with a device?

It’s actually easier than you might think. I assume you have a mobile device with NFC support and the Alldevice app installed. If not yet, read HERE.

Make sure your mobile device’s NFC reader is turned on. Launch the Alldevice app.

At the bottom right of the home screen, there’s a button labelled ‘Read NFC tag’. Tap it. If the button is missing, read HERE to find out what might be causing it.

A notification will now appear on the screen indicating that NFC tag reading is pending. Place your phone on the tag. If you’re doing this for the first time, you might need to move your phone slightly over the tag to align the internal NFC reader antenna with the tag.

If the tag is read successfully, the app will open the device menu linked to the tag, or it will inform you that the tag is not in use and ask if you want to assign a device to it. Tap ‘Ok’.

The device search window will now open. You’ll also see devices that are already linked to an NFC tag. If you select one of them, the old tag on the device will be replaced with the new one.

Use the search function or simply scroll to find the desired device and click on it.

You will now be asked to confirm whether you want to link the selected device to this NFC tag. If you’re sure, tap OK.

If everything was successful, the selected device’s menu will open, where you can access the device card or directly launch the current work order related to the device.

To remove the tag from a device, first open the device card (click ‘Device Info’), then scroll to the bottom and tap the ‘Remove NFC tag’ button.

How can I check on a computer which devices are linked to NFC tags?

You can read more about it HERE.
